Candy AI Videos: How Video Generation Works on the Platform
Search this phrase and you could be after three separate features that share one word.
There is video you generate yourself. There is Candy Shorts, a library of produced serial episodes. There is Live Action, an interactive clip player attached to certain characters.
Only the first is something you make. Here is what each one is, checked against Candy AI's own pages on 20 August 2026.
There is no text-to-video on Candy AI
Candy AI's help centre is blunt about this. The platform does not support direct video generation from scratch, and the workflow is two steps instead.
You generate an image first. Then, if that image qualifies, you convert it.
The wording on the token page matters: there will be an option to convert the image to a video if the image is suitable for video conversion. Not every image you make gets the button.
Candy AI describes the result as short clips, "simple, animated sequences", explicitly "not full-scale animations", suited to previews and character intros. That is the platform's own framing, and it is a modest one.

Video generation runs on tokens, and the per-clip price is not published
Tokens are the currency for everything beyond text chat. Image generation, voice messages, voice calls, private content packs and video conversion all draw on the same monthly balance.
Premium accounts get 100 tokens a month. Premium Plus gets 230 tokens a month plus a 10 percent bonus on top-ups.
Free accounts get none. A free user has 5 chat messages, one custom character and one image, which is why video is not reachable without paying. The full boundary is in our piece on the Candy AI free tier.
What Candy AI does not publish anywhere is how many tokens one video costs.
Under that same token article sits a single reader comment, eight months old, asking exactly that question: what can I do with 100 tokens, how many pictures or videos. It has no reply.
The subscriptions page meanwhile lists "Generate 18+ Videos" as a flat Premium benefit with no number attached. Both statements are true. They leave very different impressions.
The feature is in beta, and audio is where that shows
Two help articles updated around June 2026 say the quiet part out loud.
Sound in generated videos is still a limited feature and may not be available for all users, characters or video types.
Candy AI states plainly that because video is still in beta, not all generated videos currently include audio. Some generate silently depending on the model or on server load.
Its own workaround advice is revealing. Generate from chat-based scenes rather than what it calls older image-only flows, and keep the prompt on actions that naturally carry sound.
The availability article adds the rest of the failure list: rollouts limited to certain accounts, insufficient token balance, regional restrictions, and beta features switched off during improvements.
Read together, that is a feature still being wired in.
Candy Shorts is watched, not generated
Candy Shorts is a separate library and it has nothing to do with your tokens.
The hub listed 20 series when I loaded it on 20 August 2026, eight of them flagged with new episodes. Tabs sort by Candy Creators, Candy characters and other characters, with genre filters over the top.
Open a series and episode one plays for a signed-out visitor. Episodes two onward sit behind an upgrade prompt.
The player is a real player: speed control from 0.5x to 2x, and subtitles in six languages. HD viewing is offered as its own separate purchase per episode.
This is produced serial fiction with synthetic characters, closer to a streaming catalogue than to a generator.
Live Action is the third video surface, and the docs lag the product
Candy AI documents Live Action as a Premium-only, token-gated feature delivering full-screen video experiences on selected characters, marked with a joystick icon. That article says it is available on mobile only, for Premium users.
The live pages do not match. A Live Action page opens on desktop for a signed-out visitor, labelled Beta v2.
What it shows is an XP meter rather than a paywall. Level 1 carries two free actions, level 2 needs 30 XP earned by chatting, and 21 further actions are held behind account creation. The page notes that spam messages earn no XP.
Two help articles also list different character rosters for the same feature, nine names in one and eleven in the other.
Where the documentation and the page disagree, trust the page, and expect this one to move again.
What Premium costs before any of this is reachable
Prices read from the subscriptions page on 20 August 2026, in US dollars.
- Monthly at the list price, 13.99 a month, billed 13.99
- Three months at 8.99 a month, billed 26.97 up front
- Twelve months at 3.99 a month, billed 47.88 up front
- Two-week billing at 9.79 per period
- Weekly billing at 5.60 per period
Every one of those carries the same 100 tokens a month. The discount buys a lower monthly rate, not a bigger allowance.
Premium Plus and its 230 tokens are documented in the help centre and were not offered on the subscriptions page I loaded. That gap is worth knowing before you assume the pricing page shows every tier.
Billing runs through EverAI Limited in Malta, and the charge appears on statements as EverAI rather than as Candy AI.
Saving a clip once you have made one
There is no download button documented. Candy AI's own instructions are to right-click the video on desktop and choose save video as, or press and hold for two to three seconds on mobile and tap download video.
That article lists Premium feature availability among the things a download depends on, alongside browser and device permissions.
What is not published anywhere
Everything above comes from Candy AI's documentation and public pages. Video generation sits behind a paid sign-in, so I did not test it in a paid account, and these gaps stay open.

Anyone quoting a figure for those without a paid account is guessing.
The consent line, which image-to-video makes sharper
Because every clip starts from an image, the input decides everything. That puts real weight on one rule.
Candy AI's blocked content policy states a zero-tolerance position on non-consensual intimate imagery and on images intended to resemble actual persons. Its community guidelines forbid creating, publishing or sharing images that resemble real persons, and impersonation of real individuals and public figures is separately prohibited.
Animating a photograph of a real person without their consent is illegal in a growing number of jurisdictions, and it breaks the platform rules on top of that.
