SpicyChat AI: How the Roleplay Platform Works

"Spicy chat au" is not an app name. It is shorthand for hunting a specific alternate-universe character on SpicyChat AI, a roleplay chatbot platform.

"AU" is fan-fiction slang for alternate universe, dropping a familiar character into a new setting, and it recurs in the character titles that fill the first page of results.

What a "spicy chat au" search actually returns

Ahrefs' SERP pull for "spicy chat au," US, 9 September 2026, puts spicychat.ai in 9 of the top 10 organic slots.

Eight of those nine are individual character pages, each titled with a character name followed by "AU," then "on Spicychat." The ninth is the site's own "All Your Chatbot Characters In One Place" page.

Reading those titles, "AU" lines up with the fandom meaning of alternate universe, an inference from the pattern rather than a category SpicyChat defines: its homepage tag list has no tag called AU or Alternate Universe.

Position 6 belongs to a different product entirely, an App Store listing called "PolyTalk AI: Spicy Chat AI." It is not SpicyChat.

SpicyChat is a roleplay chatbot platform owned by NextDay AI Incorporated, based in Montreal. Signed out, the homepage still shows character cards and an NSFW filter.

Signing up, and what the free tier actually gives you

SpicyChat's login screen skips passwords. Enter an email for a code, or continue with Google, Apple, X, or Discord.

The Community Guidelines, last updated ten months before 9 September 2026, require every user to be at least 18. The signed-out screen shows no age-verification step, and BlushVue did not create an account, so what follows the code is unconfirmed.

Free accounts get a context window up to 4,096 tokens and replies up to 180 tokens each, per SpicyChat's tokens-and-context doc, last updated six months before 9 September 2026.

That doc's own rough example: with a 1,000-token character definition and roughly 150-token messages, the AI "may only keep around 20 recent messages visible."

Ad removal is a paid perk: the premium features page lists "No Ads" under the cheapest paid tier, implying free accounts see some advertising the docs never describe.

NSFW content stays off until you enable "Display chatbots with explicit images or languages (NSFW)" in profile settings.

The three paid tiers, and the price rise that landed 8 September

SpicyChat sells three tiers: Get A Taste, True Supporter, and I'm All In. Prices rose on 8 September 2026, per a pricing FAQ the docs site showed as last updated ten days before 9 September 2026.

Existing subscribers on active recurring billing keep their old price as long as the plan stays active and unchanged; switching plans or letting a subscription lapse moves you to current pricing for good.

Non-recurring payments have nothing to lock in, so any purchase after 8 September lands at the new rate. The FAQ is direct about what did not change: "Am I losing any features? No. This is purely a price change."

The refund policy, last updated in 2024, is stricter: fees are "non-refundable once the Login details have been used on Portal," with no partial-month refund, and crypto or Boosty payments fall outside it entirely.

Which AI models come with each tier

Free accounts get two models: SpicyChat Default and TheSpice, the second described in the docs as based on Llama 3.

Get A Taste adds Stheno and Magnum 12B. True Supporter adds Lyra 12B V4, Shimizu 24B, Mixtral 8x7B, and Noromaid 45B.

I'm All In alone reaches DarkForest V3, Euryale 70B, Midnight Rose 70B, Magnum 72B, WizardLM-2 8x22B, SpicyXL 132B, and DeepSeek V3 (671B), which SpicyChat's docs warn runs a slower response time.

The models page has not been updated in a year, and the FAQ, refreshed seven months ago, points you toward in-app generation settings for the current lineup instead, which needs a login to check.

Context is also set by subscription, not by model. A 16K-capable model on a free account still gets capped at that tier's 4,096-token window.

The docs also disagree with themselves on who can touch Temperature, Top-P and Top-K: the generation-settings page opens them to True Supporter and I'm All In, while the premium features page lists them under I'm All In only.

Where the real SpicyChat app lives, and where it does not

SpicyChat's mobile-apps doc is blunt about Android: "An official SpicyChat app is available via direct APK download from our website." It is not on Google Play, though it is the official app regardless.

iOS has no native app right now. A version installed before removal from the App Store still works but no longer updates; everyone else adds the site to their home screen instead.

The download page also promotes PixelChat, an SFW sister app on Google Play from developer NextDayAI, updated 4 September 2026. A subscription bought through it carries over to SpicyChat.

Searching "spicychat" in Google Play on 9 September 2026 turned up two apps carrying the name, both from publishers unrelated to NextDay AI. The same search in Apple's App Store returned 14 results, and none was the real platform.

BlushVue did not download or run the official APK; the spicychat.ai/apps/android page serves the web app's shell, not an installer file.

What the content rules forbid, in the rules' own words

Every user has to be 18 or older, and SpicyChat's guidelines require every chatbot to be "portrayed as adults over 18 years old" too.

The guidelines ban "creating chatbots based on real, private, or lesser-known individuals," and prohibit "edited or modified photographs of real people, including composites, morphs, or deepfakes" outright.

The July 2026 terms add that content depicting or sexualizing a real, identifiable person, including AI-generated or deepfake versions, is prohibited, alongside minors, non-consensual activity, incest, bestiality, sexual content involving incapacitated people, and hate speech.

Photorealistic pornography gets its own ban: content "that cannot be easily distinguished from actual photographic imagery of real human individuals" is not allowed, and family-roleplay scenarios, including step-family and in-law relationships, are banned outright too.

BlushVue does not endorse or explain any way to use a roleplay tool against a real person's likeness. Consent is not a setting you toggle, and the complaint route below exists for people depicted without it.

SFW and NSFW categorization is automated and only controls where a bot appears on the front page; an SFW-labeled bot can still be used for NSFW roleplay once you are in the chat.

Anyone can file a likeness complaint under the site's complaint and content removal policy, reviewed within five business days, with a declined request escalating to a binding dispute-resolution body at SpicyChat's cost.

You keep ownership of chatbots you build, but the terms also make you grant SpicyChat a "nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid up, transferable, sublicensable, perpetual, and irrevocable" licence to use, copy, sell, and modify your chatbots, generated content, and chats.

The terms also describe all messages sent to or from SpicyChat as "open communications readily accessible to the public."

What SpicyChat's own documentation does not confirm

Whether the free tier has a daily message cap, or a visible wait for a response, is not stated anywhere.

"Priority Generation" for I'm All In and PixelChat's "No waiting line" pitch both imply some kind of queue, but no page states a free-tier limit or wait time.

The current in-app model roster is unverified too: the models doc is a year old, and checking it requires a login BlushVue did not create.

What the free tier's ads look like, or where they show up, is not described anywhere, and whether any age-verification step follows the email code is also unknown.

SpicyChat's own character-count claims do not agree: the download page advertises "300K+ NSFW characters," while the Characters doc claims "almost a million unique characters," both the company's own marketing figures.

Does BlushVue consider "spicy chat au" the name of a real product?
